We’re incredibly happy to share that Sea Apple has won the Gold Award for Best Clothing Brand for Eco-Chic Kids at the Honeycombers x RWS Sustainability Awards, for the second year in a row.
It’s a wonderful recognition, but what makes it especially meaningful is knowing that it came with the support of our community. Thank you to everyone who voted for us, supported us, shared our work and, most importantly, has chosen to grow with Sea Apple over the past 10 years.
When we first started Sea Apple, sustainability was not a word we used very often. It was simply part of a series of questions we found ourselves asking: What are our clothes made from? Who made them? How long will they last? What happens when a child grows out of them? And how can we make things a little more thoughtfully than we did before?
Ten years later, we’re still asking many of the same questions.
Some of the answers have changed. We’ve learnt more about the materials we use, the standards we look for, the people involved in making our products and the choices that sit behind every collection. We’ve also learnt that there is rarely a perfect answer.
Today, this thinking shows up in many parts of Sea Apple. We choose GOTS-certified organic cotton across many of our collections, work with considered materials and production partners, and think carefully about how our products are designed to be used, loved and passed on. We’ve also continued to explore ways of reducing waste and making more thoughtful decisions throughout our business.
None of these things happened overnight, and none of them happened because we had everything figured out. Sustainability is an ongoing practice of looking at what we do, noticing where we can do better and making the next thoughtful choice. And after 10 years, we’re still here making those choices.
We’re grateful to have a community that cares enough to ask these questions with us, and to choose Sea Apple along the way. Every order, every hand-me-down, every conversation about where something came from and every vote is part of the journey.
So, two years in a row. We’ll take a moment to celebrate this one. Then we’ll get back to the work. There is still so much more to learn, and so much more we hope to do.
