Nutmeg Seed Lace Flutter Cheongsam
Nutmeg trees produced two spices that were highly prized in Europe during the 1800s. Nutmeg - the ground nutmeg seed, and Mace which was the red lattice like pulp covering the seed. We decided to experiment with lace for this dress as it reminded us of the mesh like covering of the nutmeg seed. You can also find two giant nutmeg sculptures still along Orchard Road bearing the mace covered seed - one at ION Orchard by Kumari Nahappan, and the other at Orchard Central by Michele Righetti.
